ODI series between Pakistan and New Zealand is likely to change, with one of the ODIs being considered for a shift from Karachi to Rawalpindi. This proposed change is due to various reasons, including the COVID-19 situation in Pakistan, New Zealand’s tight schedule, and player workload management.
The original schedule had the Kiwi side arriving in Lahore and playing three T20Is from 14-17 April, followed by traveling to Rawalpindi, where the final two T20Is and first ODI would be played from 20-26 April. The tour was supposed to end in Karachi, with the remaining four ODIs to be played from 30 April to 7 May. If the proposal goes through, Rawalpindi will host two ODIs at the start of the series, with Karachi hosting three ODIs.
Last week, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and New Zealand Cricket had agreed to make tweaks to the New Zealand men’s cricket team’s tour of Pakistan for five ODIs and five T20Is due to elections in Punjab. This additional tour by the New Zealand cricket team will count towards ICC Team Rankings.
The ODIs will help Pakistan prepare their side for the ACC Asia Cup and ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, while the T20I will assist the PCB to continue rebuilding the side for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which will be held in the USA and West Indies in June/July 2024.

As per the latest update, the schedule for the Pakistan-New Zealand series is likely to change once again due to various reasons, and one of the proposed changes is to shift one of the ODIs from Karachi to Rawalpindi. The change is currently under consideration, and no official announcement has been made yet regarding the revised schedule.
The current schedule has the New Zealand cricket team arriving in Lahore and playing three T20Is from 14-17 April. If the proposed change goes through, Rawalpindi will host two ODIs at the start of the series, with Karachi hosting three ODIs. The reason behind this proposed change is to ensure that the players have enough rest and are not overworked, especially with the upcoming T20 World Cup in 2024 and the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2023.
